Newly opened in 2010, Mama Town Buffet, as its name implies, is dedicated to offering home style food at an affordable price and in a welcoming atmosphere. This spacious 7,000 square foot restaurant could comfortably seat about 200 diners. Buffet restaurants often feature a plethora of Americanized Chinese food including Szechuan, Hunan, and Cantonese cuisines. These items vary from the salad, soup, appetizers and entrées featuring pork, beef, chicken, and seafood compositions. But MaMa Town Buffet goes beyond mere buffet offerings. There are about 120 items to serve on the buffet bars. If the tasty entrées don’t excite customers, they will quickly notice that the restaurant also offers sushi, cake, pudding, pie, doughnuts, cookies, ice cream and more. But the General Tso’s Chicken, spareribs and seafood varieties are all popular with local customers. Each dish offers a desirable combination of healthy ingredients, good taste, and vibrant textures. All the food is displayed on the buffet bar and then replenished frequently. The dishes have to be piping hot, especially for the Chinese dishes as they have a tendency to lose their crunchy texture and beautiful color if exposed to the air for even a short period of time. To keep the dishes fresh, choosing the freshest ingredients available is of the utmost importance. Most of the customers are local Americans and some are Vietnamese. The restaurant is always jam-packed with customers during rush hours and weekends. However, the staff could handle it with skills. If you ever come to Hickory, North Carolina, you may want to drop by MaMa Town Buffet, and they are always ready to serve you to your satisfaction. |
